Description:
Database performance is not just a matter of parameter settings, but also largely of SQL. In this workshop, you will learn the tools and capabilities of Db2 to view and interpret the SQL flowcharts – and thus the results of Db2 optimization.
In addition to the administrative side of EXPLAIN use, special attention is given to the interpretation of the EXPLAIN expenses and the associated options for action and influence. In addition, it shows how Db2 parameters, SQL reformulations and optimized database objects can influence an access path.
The documents for the workshop are in German and on the most up-to-date Db2 stand – by means of exercises the theory is practically implemented.
Participants:
This workshop is designed for application developers, SQL specialists, and database administrators interested in analyzing SQL commands using Explain.
Objective:
Participants will learn about the key approaches and tools for SQL analysis, and how to interpret the Explain issues to make important inferences about improving database access. You are then able to perform SQL analysis and optimization in your usual Db2 environment independently.
The topics at a glance:
- Introduction to the Db2 Optimizer working method
- EXPLAIN
- EXPLAIN analysis tools
- Read and understand access plans for single and multi-partition databases
- Access plans with Db2 BLU
- SQL optimization with IBM Data Server Manager and IBM Data Studio
- Statistics (RUNSTATS)
- Db2 Optimizer guidelines
- SQL Policies
- Index Guidelines
Requirements:
- good knowledge and experience with Db2
- SQL knowledge
